Summer camp has been a tradition for decades, offering kids a chance to experience the outdoors, make new friends, and learn new skills. Although technology has become an important tool and resource in our daily lives, Camp Woodstock has committed to a “tech-free” environment where kids can fully engage in an awesome camp experience. We promise our campers that their time at camp will be well documented, and they can exchange cell phone numbers at check-out!
Overnight summer camps are meant to be a break from the constant stimulation of technology. At Camp Woodstock campers have an “unplugged” experience where they make new friends while enjoying everything that nature has to offer. Each day is packed with unique camp experiences like archery and swimming, arts and crafts and outdoor games that are all geared to connecting with other campers.
With the absence of technology, Woodstockers enjoy time to listen to one another, express their needs and communicate their feelings in person…laughter replaces a smile emoji and a kind word of approval replaces a “thumbs up” button. Camp provides a safe space where kids can take risks, make mistakes, and learn from them without having to compare their experiences to those of friends and strangers on the internet. At camp, kids also learn how to support their friends and help others achieve their goals without a single hashtag!
At Camp Woodstock, we make sure that our campers’ experience is rich in nature, friendship, and most importantly, connection. You’ll see photos and videos of playing, dancing, learning, and having fun without a single cell phone in sight. No apps, no Snapchat, no TikTok…but you might see a deer, or a striking sunset, or a shooting star, and you might go to sleep smelling like campfire. There is no internet or cell service out here in the pines, but the connection to friends and nature will never be stronger.
