At Camp Woodstock, camper voices are shaping the future.

Last summer, the Camp Woodstock Board and its Program Committee conducted focus groups each session with the camp’s oldest boy campers. In total, 70 campers participated, offering thoughtful feedback on facilities, programming, and ways to enhance the camp experience.

“We heard you” has become more than a phrase; it’s a commitment. As a direct result of camper input, several improvements are already underway.

On the basketball court, double-rim hoops have been replaced with new collapsible rims designed to give players a friendlier roll and a more enjoyable playing experience. In the cabins, privacy improvements are progressing. Ten cabins will receive new privacy changing areas, with the first five already completed. The remaining five are scheduled for completion before summer
begins.

Campers also expressed a desire for increased privacy in bathhouses. In response, Camp Woodstock is upgrading facilities by replacing shower curtains with privacy doors. Bids have been secured, and a vendor has been selected to begin work in April, with completion expected by May 1, just in time for the summer season.

Beyond facilities, the focus groups sparked new programming ideas. Staff members are enthusiastic about introducing additional activities and special events inspired directly by camper suggestions.

Funding for these projects will come from the camp’s endowment, following Board approval in December 2025. Leaders expressed gratitude to the Board and Program Committee for their dedication to youth development and continuous improvement.

At Camp Woodstock, listening leads to action and this summer, campers will see their ideas come to life.
